Chennai’s Marina Beach extends about 12 kilometers from Beasant Nagar in the south to Fort St. George in the north, it is here we find a sculpture garden and a place where children come to play on the marvellous machines of Marina Beach.
The sun is shining in Chennai. Marina Beach is unusually quiet today.
The waters of the Bay of Bengal are calm. On a normal day this would be the most crowded beach in all of India with thousands of families gathering on the broad sandy beach. The children come here to play on the marvellous machines of Marina Beach for ten or twenty rupees a ride.
On the empty beach these machines become sculptures positioned perfectly in the Tamil Nadu light. The shadows strong in the clear bright air.
In the adjoining fishermen’s colony the women have few customers for their catch. The colony is quite too.
