Reflections of a Japanese life in a time before COVID.
Crossing the road from our apartment we step into Gifu Park, the ponds with their ancient Koi rippling the reflections of the trees around them. On hot summer days we sat here with friends, sometimes resting after long mountain walks. In Autumn the colours here were intense, leaves slowly falling in the soft air.
We have sweltered through the Japanese summers and wandered through deep snowdrifts in Northern Honshu, crossed Zao Mountain at night and spent time with the Snow Monsters.
We have spent time with people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, time with artists and makers, all masters of their art. We have wandered the streets in small towns and shared stunningly beautiful meals with many friends.
We travel Hokkaido and film the Ainu and on Honshu we spend time with the UNWTO and our many friends in Yamagata to discuss the recovery from the great Japan earthquake. In these places the beautiful Onsens and a Japanese life.
And of course there are the trains.
