Words, voices and images: Connecting to cultures around the world

“Change in Hong Kong has been a constant, as has the city’s success. These pressures and successes make the process of art making ever harder as artist’s working spaces and studios are hard to find and ever more expensive”.

Angela’s art practise focuses on urban culture as ‘a tangible expression of the disappearing city value and local cityscape’. Angela explores the correlation between urban development and city value via installation and photography.

Angela’s work reflects her city, its histories and changes.

Angela graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2014, study including an exchange program in 2013 at Linfield College. McMinnville, Oregon to develop her installation art.  In 2016, Angela was artist in residence at Red Gate Gallery in Beijing. Her work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, Beijing and Australia.

"The whole process about my art journey is found objects, the whole journey is like time travel, all the processes are like a treasure hunt. Hunting those found objects, manufacture goods, is a unique journey and it keeps a big bond with the neighbourhood.

It is very unique nowadays because Hong Kong to me is that everyone is becoming an individual, we used to be like a big family, everyone cares about each other and then they are friendly with each other. And as time goes, everyone just cares more about their individual business".
