This story is part of a series that provides students and collectors an image of a work by Andrea Hylands in the collection of museums or private collectors around the world.
Andrea Hylands’ sculptural ceramic works have been acquired by American collectors for many years and to 2010 when Andrea ceased making physical objects following the loss of her studio and all its contents along with her very old and beautiful home in Victoria that year. An international home to Peter and Andrea since the 1970s. Members of the James Renwick Alliance will remember their visit to the house and studio.
Among these collectors were members of the James Renwick Alliance whose enthusiasm for collecting we hold dear.
The James Renwick Alliance is a skilled and knowledgeable group of American art enthusiasts, collectors, artists, educators, students and art professionals who share a passion for contemporary American craft. This generosity was also extended by members of the James Renwick Alliance through their collecting of Andrea Hylands work.
The James Renwick Alliance are committed to advancing scholarship, education and public appreciation of craft art as well as promoting individual achievements of excellence and innovation in the craft field. The Alliance has provided more than $3 million for acquisitions, exhibitions, public programs, and publications to Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery – The USA’s showcase of contemporary American craft.
