The resource section will cover specific topics and raise issues of cultural significance to encourage further study and debate. An article by Ross Bowden calls for the development of a major museum of Oceanic and Aboriginal Art in Australia, to put on public display, one of the world’s great collections in this genre. We take a look at the genius of indigenous art and, in the third dimension, we investigate the evolution of contemporary ceramics. The Burrup rock art precinct This section contains an article by Peter Hylands about the continued destruction of the rock engravings of the Burrup Murujuga in Western Australia. There are also interviews which include discussions with local Ngarluma indigenous leader Robyne Churnside and former Western Australian Premier, Carmen Lawrence. This section also contains a photo gallery of images from the Burrup Murujuga. This web based material is accompanied by a new film about Gwyn Hanssen Pigott and for schools and college, the Gwyn Hanssen Pigott; Art resources pack which includes five films which show Gwyn Hanssen Pigott demonstrating how she makes and fires her work. The website will also include student resource material and projects to accompany this resource pack. Films on leading international sculptors are also planned.
